Alcatel-Lucent CrystalSec Security
Overview
Alcatel-Lucent CrystalSec is the security framework and architecture for all Alcatel-Lucent IP Telephony and IP Networking products. CrystalSec builds on the belief that security must be extended to and deployed through a mixture of technologies, external appliances and security functions.
IP Telephony
For Alcatel-Lucent's OmniPCX platforms, security is deployed in multiple layers to protect the heart of your information system. At the heart are your enterprise's critical resources, including Alcatel-Lucent's real-time IP Telephony application, communications servers, media gateways, supervisory functions and IP phones.
Successive layers of security are deployed around this sensitive area, from the application layer out to the physical layer. Each security layer has a specific function designed to prevent access to sensitive information by non-authorized persons.
Complementing these security layers, a procedure must be established to monitor and detect any illicit activity occurring at the various defensive layers. With this in-depth implementation, any breach in security policy can easily be detected. Moreover, a breach on one level cannot compromise the entire network.
This comprehensive approach provides an effective defense for your enterprise's critical resources, enabling the continuous, uninterrupted use of all Alcatel IP Telephony applications.
IP Networking
For IP Networking, Alcatel-Lucent's CrystalSec Security model divides network security into three areas - embedded, enabled, and managed. Each has its own unique strengths and weaknesses but when configured to work together, create a cooperative defense against attacks.
This framework is further strengthened with the OmniSwitch Automated Quarantine Engine (AQE) attack containment solution, the Sygate Secure Enterprise for attack prevention, and integration of FortiGate security appliance perimeter solutions.
The CrystalSec framework consists of:
- Network device hardening – security-by-default, DoS, vulnerability management, secure development, code and configuration integrity
- Secure traffic – role-based management, secure management, security provisioning, intrusion management
