Alcatel-Lucent announces 10 millionth Small-Medium Business user on OmniPCX Office platform
Paris, February 14, 2007 — Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) today announced its 10 millionth small-medium business (SMB) user on its OmniPCX Office platform. The user was Masterton Homes, a leading home manufacturer in New South Wales, Australia. This milestone was achieved through a managed communications solution that provided the company with Alcatel-Lucent’s OmniPCX Office communications server.
By selecting a managed communications solution offering, Masterton Homes is providing coverage to its two main facilities and 12 remote sites through a Voice over IP (VoIP) network powered by the Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Office. This managed offering enables Masterton Homes to ease the responsibility of managing their communication network, allowing them to focus on new business generation and improving customer service. Additionally, the OmniPCX Office has enhanced employee productivity and collaboration through a single, integrated communication solution, while at the same time delivering cost savings from inter-office calls and services.
“Our aim was to improve our customer service to the point where it exceeded our customers’ expectations,” said Graham Downes, Masterston Homes. “We had identified poor call handling and basic lack of inter-office communication capabilities as a significant impediment to this. The Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Office solution with managed communications services gave us an integrated communications system, which has allowed us to serve our customers in a manner better than in the past.”
“Managed communications services address the challenges small and mid-sized businesses face by providing them with a communications solution that transforms into a competitive weapon, while at the same time enables them to focus on their primary business,” said Hubert de Pesquidoux, President of Alcatel-Lucent enterprise activities. “We are pleased to recognize Masterston Homes as our 10 millionth SMB user on an Alcatel-Lucent platform and are excited to continue to help companies of all sizes transform their networks, either by deploying and managing their own networks, or as part of a managed communications solution through a trusted network operator.”
Masterston Homes approach to deploying IP telephony across their network focused on capitalizing on the existing wiring in their two main offices. As a result, they deployed Alcatel-Lucent 4029 digital handsets at those sites and tied in the remote offices with IP phones to reduce expenses and centralize applications -- such as voice mail and greetings -- while consolidating connections to the public network. The network is also equipped with Alcatel-Lucent’s feature-rich PIMPhony Attendant PC-based software application and Alcatel-Lucent Office Management Console. PIMPhony Attendant enables advanced call greeting, screening and routing capabilities further enabling employees to serve customers. They are also utilizing the Alcatel-Lucent Office Management Console, a software application that centrally manages multiple sites as a single enterprise-wide solution.
